Many things have changed about the walk this year and we thought that the changes would make it possible, even easy for more of you to join us this year, either virtually or in person.
-
- Free registration by phoning Shasa or Emily at the office. New members are welcome.
- Opening and Closing Ceremonies
-
-
- These will be live streamed and will remain on Facebook and YouTube to be viewed later.
- Details will follow when available.
-
-
- Everyone is free to do as you please to celebrate this event, on whatever day and in whatever way works for you. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RUN, WALK YOUR DOG OR BRING KIDS IF YOU’RE CHOOSING A SHORTER DISTANCE. (KIDS SHOULD BE REGISTERED.)

-
- Butterfly of Hope in Toronto has our 25K route planned along the Lakeshore in Toronto and Mississauga, Ontario. We will make alternative distances available to those of you who can’t walk that far.
- There will NOT be the usual rest stops with porta potties and food but hydration stations will be available.
- Raise as much as you possibly can. The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation has come to rely on the Walk and the Ride for research and care. The centre is missing much needed funds that cyclists and walkers have normally raised by now and are hoping that we will all be able to help.

- Shirts– We aren’t planning new shirts for this year. Many of you have shirts from other years so you can wear one of those. We can order shirts for those of you who don’t have them. Let us know very soon if you need one please.

For Walkers From Out of Province
We’d love to have you join us if you have a place to stay and are able to get here!
How This Will Work – For those who can’t be with us physically, we are looking into the best way to get together via the miracles of technology! Facebook Live and Zoom are two possibilities.
Create a Group – Create a sub group of Butterfly of Hope in your own city/province. We’ll need one person from each group to act as captain for your group and to connect with us. We’ll organize this when we see who is walking.

Social Media
Social media will be key this year to get the message out. Note that the name of the team on its newer social media sites is listed as “o” and not “of” Hope.

- UPDATES WILL BE MADE AS WE FOLLOW PRECAUTIONS RELATED TO THE PANDEMIC. WE REMAIN OPTIMISTIC THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THESE PLANS SINCE NONE OF OUR GROUPS WILL BE LARGE AND WILL BE QUITE MANAGEABLE. WE WILL HOWEVER, HAVE A PLAN B!
