Out-of-province people have started to arrive in Toronto, dinner for many of us is tonight and everyone I hear from is very excited to get going!
Here are a few last minute details.
VIP TENT
The V.I.P. tent will be open to Butterfly of Hope after the Saturday walk due to a contest we won early on. See map.
A Toast to Us
Celebrations for top teams over the years will be in the Princess Margaret tent (#3). OneWalk organizers want to have toasts at 3:15 p.m., but people doing 40km are unlikely to be there by then. We will save champagne and have a toast to 40-km walkers later!
Meeting For the Finish
Traditionally BOH teams meet to walk across the Finish Line together. It’s getting harder due to the different distances. I’m suggesting that we meet just outside the finish line:
Friday – around 10:30 p.m.
Saturday
- 25km walkers and crew that are finished meet at 3:00 p.m.
- 40 km walkers and the rest of the crew meet at 5:30 p.m.
Our Dedicated Kilometre
Kilometre #8 of Saturday’s route is dedicated to us. Watch for the sign and have your photo taken there. Hopefully some of us will still be walking together and we can get a few group shots. We can share those later and post some on social media. Many of our former walkers have asked to see pictures on FaceBook.
We have ordered additional signs in recognition of Chad that, with any luck at all, will be posted as well.
Dinner Saturday
Reservations have been made at Bannock on Bay which is in Hudson’s Bay (at Bay and Queen Streets) for 5:00 p.m. Some of us can go over when most are in. If you’ve eaten at the OneWalk site, then just come and have a drink with us to unwind. If you get there a little early or a little late, it should not be a problem.
Congratulations To Us!
At the time of writing this note we have raised $58,000. That is amazing and I know that most of you had to work very hard for it. We are still in second place of community teams. Bravo! I’m sure that Papa B is very proud and will be cheering us on all weekend and smiling down at us! We’ll have to cover the hugs ourselves.
Registration for 2019
Some of us have already registered. We just don’t seem to be able to walk away. Many of you will come back and join us. If you know NOW that you likely will, sign up and get your shirt. We all know that what we need most is one more shirt!
Glow In the Dark
We have some items for you, but please bring anything you have–especially if it’s different. We have bracelets, necklaces, glow sticks on strings and butterfly sticks (although not what we were looking for). Anything “butterfly” would be amazing.
Team Photo
We have pre-booked a 7:10 time slot in front of the finish line on Saturday. Friday isn’t nearly as busy so we’ll try to nab a photographer when we get there.
One more sleep for most of us, two more for some! So exciting! We can’t wait to see you there!
